BUC$ account is an optional, prepaid debit account that allows your ID card to be used as cash at various locations across the Binghamton University campus and Off-Campus at local area merchants. With your BUC$ account, you merely swipe your card through the card reader at any of the locations listed below and the money is automatically deducted from your personal debit account. The BUC$ account makes your ID card more versatile and easy to use with out you having to carry cash. Here is a list of places where you can use your BUC$ debit account!

All the money is yours to use since there are no surcharge charges or monthly fees for using your BUC$ Debit Account. Your money will transfer from semester to semester, year to year and when you graduate or leave the university you can request any money not spent refunded back by filling out the BUC$ Cash Reimbursement Form. Accounts left inactive for twenty four (24) months may be assessed a $25 annual maintenance fee until funds are depleted. However, if a cardholder plans to take a leave from the University for a period longer than twenty four (24) months, the cardholder may notify the Meal Plan Office prior to the leave in writing with the dates of the planned leave to avoid charges accumulating during the leave.

NOTE TO NEW STUDENTS:
The BUC$ account can not be opened until the end of the last Summer Session
in August. Therefore, your payment will not appear on your statement until
after that time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Managing Your BUC$ Account:
Funds may be added to your BUC$ account at any time by visiting or calling
the Meal Plan Office or mailing your payment. Payment may be provided in
cash or via personal check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express.
Funds may also be add to your BUC$ account by using on the Card management Center (CMC) located in the Glenn G. Bartle and Science Library lobbies. Those individuals with valid Binghamton University ID Cards can add to BUC$ accounts with the CMC unit if they have not done so already. In addition, Community members who do not have a valid University ID card can obtain a BUC$ guest card for the CMC unit.
The BUC$ Guest Card is a reusable debit card that can be purchased by patrons who are not students, faculty or staff of Binghamton University. BUC$ Guest cards can be purchased for a one time charge of $1.00 at the Card Management Center in the Glenn G. Bartle and Science Library. Students, Faculty and Staff of BU are able to purchase the guest card but are encouraged to use their University ID card for BUC$. After purchasing your guest card, money can be added at the Card Management Center, Meal Plan Office, and the Online Card Office.
Current BUC$ account holders can add funds via the Online Card Office on the web. BUC$ account holders can view account activity and fund Balances.
Note: You’re BUC$ account cannot be used as a credit card, ATM card or phone card. BUC$ money is separate from your meal plan account. Your balance will also appear on the card reader every time you use the card.

Notification of lost or stolen card:
One or all of the following areas are available for notification:
- The cashier in any of the dining facilities during normal dining hours.
- The Meal Plan Office, during normal business hours, or call 777-6000.
- The University ID Office, Monday- Friday 1 – 4pm or call 777-6871.
- The University Police, 24 hours a day (607) 777-2393.
- Online Card Office click the Report Lost Card tab.
Liability for a stolen card and/or unauthorized usage:
In the event that the Cardholders ID Card is lost or stolen individual liability
will not exceed $50 in unauthorized charges if a lost or stolen card is
reported within 48 hours. Liability will not exceed $500 in unauthorized
charges for reports made within 60 days. If notification of loss exceeds
60 days, you’re BUC$ account liability for unauthorized charges shall
be limited to funds available in your account(s).
The above stipulations do not apply to BUC$ guest cards.
Disclosure of information to third parties:
This institution will not disclose information to any third party, or credit
information or any other purpose, without the written and motorized consent
of the customer.
Documentation of transaction:
A statement of your BUC$ transactions can be obtained by logging onto the
Online Card Office or by requesting a statement in person form the Meal
Plan Office during normal business hours.
Transfers and withdrawals:
Transfers: Funds may be transferred from your BUC$ account
to your Meal Plan.
Withdrawals: Funds may be withdrawn only when you close your account by filling out the BUC$ Cash Reimbursement Form. Check will be mailed; it takes approximately 4-6 weeks.
